Victims of their own unchecked greed, humanity fled to the stars when confronted with a world that could no longer sustain life, and thousands of years later, the hedonistic lifestyle aboard their cityship is the only existence that its denizens know. From the remains of other worlds, Astennu mines the materials for its survival, while a workforce of golems from the Afterlife Program free every individual Astennian from the chains of responsibility. Chasing their pleasure through neon-lit streets, they live fast and die young, driven to enjoy this life because they'll be working in the next.

Under the watchful eye of Ra, the Ennead, a leading council of avatars of ancient deities, call upon their respective followers to live by the only religion on Astennu: their own. Only through abiding by the code set by their chosen divinity can an acolyte guarantee a good position in the afterlife and ensure that Ra guides their cityship to plentiful resources. But unrest in the streets and turmoil within the ranks of the Ennead have stoked a new fear: that they have lost the blessing of Ra and have entered a second age of divine punishment.

When the reality of one world spills into another, the effects can be catastrophic - just ask the Travelers. Since the beginning of time, they have witnessed the rise and fall of worlds and fought tirelessly to combat the Traversal Events that threaten this natural cycle. But they are losing this war. As the breaches grow more dangerous and their own numbers dwindle dangerously low, the Travelers race toward their seemingly inevitable demise, a future they will do anything to prevent. Meanwhile, infinite worlds march on, each with their own struggles and utterly unaware of their protector’s plight or that their reality could rip itself apart at any moment.

TRAVERSE is a small but friendly self-hosted forum that provides opportunities to build off of detailed lore and develop plots of every kind, with minimal activity requirements and no word counts. Established in November 2023, we offer optional character leveling and combat systems, as well as regular staff-run social events and plot-heavy quests whose outcomes depend upon character decisions and dice rolls. Though original fantasy at heart, our site spans multiple genres. Characters can explore a variety of unique worlds, each with its own theme, species, and magic, including:

• The Crossroads: Futuristic home of the Travelers. Wildly diverse, militaristic, and highly secretive. Travelers can journey between worlds.
  
• Renia: Modern post-apocalyptic. Ongoing warfare between clans. Sentient bonded animals let humans survive a toxic environment and wield magic.
  
• Pyrrux: Eldritch noir survival horror set in the Industrial Era. Dark, low magic. Human cults worship Otherwordly entities, while monsters prey upon the rest.
  
• Cydfodol: Historical 17th century Earth with mages and fae. A deadly iron-filled world, lethal power politics, and zealous humans exterminating all magicfolk they can find.

WELCOME TO CYDFODOL! A Traversal Event has ripped open the barrier between the fae realm of Cydfodol and the valley forests of post-apocalyptic Renia. The Travelers must close the breach, and they must do so quickly: Renia's lethal toxins spread further into Cydfodol with every passing minute, and there's only so long before the denizens of each world realize they're not the only inhabitants of the multiverse.

Cydfodol has now become an active, playable world, alongside Renia, Pyrrux, and the Crossroads! Full lore and canon positions have been posted, and members may now create world-specific characters. Characters have been sent to the Cydfodolian and Renian sides of the tear in order to contain it.
